No God? Now that’s a Problem!
Here’s the thing: you might have an addiction that is beyond your own ability to overcome. If nothing you try keeps you clean and sober, then maybe you need help from a Power that is greater than you. (Click here for some thoughts about True Independence.)
How can an honest person believe what they don’t actually believe? For a practical suggestion about dealing with unbelief, please consider the Big Book chapter for “We Agnostics”. But please also consider some of the convincing facts listed below that point to a Creator God.
- “We Agnostics” – A Big Book Suggestion
- A good simple answer to an atheist’s question.
- Do you have doubts and questions about God? Check some of the links below for evidential “proofs” for a Higher Power or Creator of some kind.
- Or maybe watch some movies, found here, about real people who fought against the idea of a Higher Power.
- If you are a “follow the facts” type, you should watch “Undaunted: The Josh McDowell Story” about the son of an abusive alcoholic who grows up angry and studies to prove the Bible is false. (The movie has a slow start but delivers memorable highlights, so don’t give up on it early.) Or check out one of his fact-filled books here.
Some “Proofs” for God
It is said God is obvious enough that those who seek Him can find Him, but hidden enough that those who reject Him can’t see Him.
There is no single “proof” which can convince everyone that God does or does not exist. But for anyone who is open-minded about the possibility that God exists, there are many convincing proofs which added together make it more than reasonable to believe a Creator made everything, including you.
To be honest, there are arguments against every “proof” there is, but the only right proof for you might be found in understanding what your own reason is for not trusting God.
In any case, I’ve listed some “proofs” below to help seekers and strengthen believers.
Some “proofs” for God:
- A universe from nothing!
- Why is there Something rather than Nothing?
- More of Everything from Nothing. Part One.
- More of Everything from Nothing. Part Two.
- Thomas Aquinas’ Argument (Proof) from Motion.
- The Fine Tuning of the Universe. (Perhaps today’s most persuasive argument for a Creator.)
